Henry Gray of Jedburgh

Posted 13 Apr 05 by Scott Andrew Bird. Filed in Gray.

I'm currently looking for any information on Henry Gray, probably buried in Jedburgh (Scotland) Abbey after 1740. The Gray family - at least part of it - moved to Canada some time after that.

Enjoy this site? Why not say thanks with a cup of coffee; or perhaps a a book. You can never read too much.

I came across your request on the internet quite by chance.
A couple of weeks ago I purchased nine volumes of WAlter Scott's'Life of Napoleon', published in 1827, and according to the contemporary signature inside these appear to have been originally owned by Henry Gray. Of course I dont know whether this is your Henry Gray but the Jedburgh connection (Jedburgh being frequently mentioned by Scott)makes me wonder. They are good leather volumes and would have been quite expensive in their day.
I just thought you might be interested...
