The smallest backup device

Posted 06 Oct 06 by Scott Andrew Bird. Filed in elsewhere.

MicrovaultLegacy News has an interesting piece on the use of thumb drives for backups. With both the capacity and price of these devices now reasonable, there's no excuse for not backing up your data.

ProtectMyPhotos

ProtectMyPhotosProtectMyPhotos is a newly launched online photo storage site, created by the team behind both the GenCircles and Family Tree Legends projects.

Whilst I haven't actually tested this service yet (I already have several photo storage solutions), the idea is certainly a good one. Unlimited storage from only $49.95 annually.

Edinburgh worship

I'm currently tracing the history of several of Edinburgh's churches - the oldest of which dates to 1541. If you happen to be looking for ancestors who may have been laid to rest in one of these fine buildings, or in one of the attached yards, let me know.

For now, a few photos.

Brief History of the Royal Mile, Edinburgh

Posted 12 Jan 05 by Scott Andrew Bird. Filed in elsewhere.

I’ve updated the brief history of Edinburgh’s most famous stretch of road, The Royal Mile. The Mile has a long, and fascinating history; and is still home to a castle, a palace, churches, a cemetery, parliamentary buildings, housing and local businesses.

Quite an amazing street.

Extreme Reunion

Posted 07 Aug 04 by Scott Andrew Bird. Filed in elsewhere.

NBC is currently seeking possible participants for a show to be known as 'Extreme Reunion', a reality TV show designed to reunite loved ones from across the US and around the world.

The show will utilise the tools available on MyFamily.com - one of the largest paid subscription sites of its kind - in order to track down and reunite families. The bringing together of people in this way has been a source of television entertainment for some time; now enhanced by the potential speed of searching utilising online resources.

Anyone interested in appearing on the show should submit their application on the NBC site (nbc.com), or on the Extreme Reunion site itself (extremereunion.com).
